CASAROTTO LUCA

Luca Casarotto is an Associate Professor of Design (CEAR-08/D) at the Università Iuav di Venezia.
He earned a PhD in Design Sciences in 2012 and was an Assistant Professor from 2014 to 2021. Since 2007, he has been engaged in teaching and research activities at the university.
His research areas include innovative technologies, new production processes, Industry 4.0 and 5.0, the relationship between design and artificial intelligence, polymeric materials, environmental and sustainable processes, the circular economy, and the development of technologies applied to design.
He has participated in numerous funded research projects and has served as Lead Scientist for several programs, including Meta4.0 (Possibilities and Potential of Design in Metalworking and Industry 4.0), Design 4.0 (Projects and Industry 4.0 Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises), R-Evolution (Sustainable Growth in the Eyewear and Fashion Accessories Sector), Good Plastic (Environmental Preferability of Plastic Material Products), AD4A (Artefact Design 4 All LAB), and FLASH (Fused Laser-Assisted Shells for High-Performance Structures).
He has also been involved in national and international research groups, such as iNEST (Interconnected Nord Est Innovation Ecosystem) and AGEDESIGN (Enhancing Research and Innovation Capabilities in Equipment and Services for Active and Healthy Ageing).
In 2017, together with colleagues and the Università Iuav di Venezia, he founded the spin-off New Design Vision srl, where he worked as a partner, project manager and designer until 2023.
He is currently the coordinator of the research unit FIND (Future, Innovation and Design) and of the national research group IoTXR (Interactive Factory: Enabling Technologies from IoT to XR). He is also a member of the regional innovation network M3Net and the research center Futuro Continuo (Design for Behavioural Change & Regenerative Future).
