Spazi e attività sportive tra benessere individuale, relazioni sociali e qualità urbana

Chapter
Publication Date:
2020
abstract:
It seems as a common practice, an operation of sorts, isolating Venice from itself – the basic point of the distinctive and disarming tourist opportunism that has been credited as a solid urban economic refer- ence for decades till present – or rather it seems so easy separating the whole city from its own parts, ex- pansions, local practices, specific needs and its own manifestations of contemporaneity, however weak or hidden. A separation between land and water that seems to display totally different approaches and nar- rative registers. Nevertheless, a careful and trained look at the morphology and features of the metro- politan organism reveals a variety and a multitude of references and images that build – instead of remov- ing – an impressive picture of possibilities. The re- sult is a magnificent variety of opportunities of open or equipped spaces and some in between spaces – built and unbuilt – within the metropolitan city and its historical portion. Sport, outdoor activities, active mobility or simple walks bring people back into the urban and territorial context, showing their qualities and specificities as well as the countless potentials for the city project and urban plan.
