Pool Loop

Pool Loop proposes the redevelopment of a marginal area, almost completely excluded from urban percep- tion and crossed by different infrastructural connections. There an articulated system made of pools and pockets cuts out small parts of the lagoon surface delimiting spaces intersected by bridges and viaducts. The superimposition of routes with origins and destinations separated by water, defines a complex network of roads and tracks at different levels, making the in between spaces out of the ordinary; resulting in a site that is evocative and alienating at the same time.
The projects transform the western border of the railway station island in a new vital circuit, a urban articulated system where various sporting activities can take place, on the ground or in water, crossing sharing places intended primarily for the inhabitants of Venice. The possibilities of combining those residual areas are explored at various levels, in relation to the strategic position of the site with respect to the three transport nodes that circumscribe it. The sustainable reuse of the existing structures mades new public spaces, recomposing the fragmented border in a new part of the city to be inhabited.
