Abstract:
Through the imaginary, new stories take shape and they emerge from a land settled by challenging what exists and is known. A study conducted by the PON/FERS Research "Neoluoghi" analyzed the theme parks and other theme sites. It highlighted the ambiguities generated by theming used as a tool of persuasion. What may be the subject of theming is instead the user experience, where the user lives a leading role and not a passive one. The focus shifts from designing artifacts to designing processes. The key concept becomes "producing a vision"; design comes into play as "envisioning" using the tools of communication, storytelling, interaction and visualization. It takes advantage of the ability to shape the daily life and public spaces. Without reducing everything only a matter of form, reuse strategies and re-cycling cultural heritage become part of a continuous narrative and collective.
