Villa Stein-De-Monzie by Le Corbusier (1926-1928) : strategie di conservazione tra ricerca e didattica

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2017
abstract:
The educational experience produced during the international workshop organized by the Iuav University of Venice was aimed at improving knowledge of the maison Stein-de-Monzie. The villa was designed and built between 1926 and 1928, the same years when Le Corbusier was elaborating the “Five Points of Architecture”: the building is the first complete application of these principles while it represents an evolution of the maison Dom-Ino’s structural scheme. Both the interior spaces and the outer surfaces actually show deep changes, in many cases misrepresenting the original design goals. The building’s integrated instrumental survey contributed to ascertain both the material consistency and the state of conservation. The knowledge process represents a prerequisite to outline new strategies which could express the cultural choices connected to the conservation of the 20th-century built heritage.
