Ortodossia ed Eterodossia della Ricostruzione. La memoria nei simboli di guerra

Abstract:
The role that architecture has assumed in the recent events in Palmira renews a reflection on the symbolic meanings of the Architecture as material fact and/or symbol cultural object.
From the case of the Monstar bridge, where a replica ‘as it was and where it was’, has created a time lag between cultural issues which are believed far, to the proposal of the fountains at Ground Zero as a Memorial of the collapses Twin Towers or the present vacuum of the Bamiyan Buddhas, the discussion can move from what is the significance of the matter and where lies the symbol for architecture, where a specific role is addressed to representation, becoming ‘matter’ through the use of 3D printing techniques or 3D imaging software, as the proposal to reconstruct the Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph in Trafalgar Square.
Those episodes show a progressive reduction (reconsideration) of the architecture in an image-symbol that completely transcends the matter and generates a reflection about ‘what’ is preserved, if is it orthodox or heterodox for the Architecture.
