Abstract:
This paper investigates the territorial transformations triggered by the expansion of logistics facilities in the Veneto region, with a particular focus on the increasing pressure on land consumption and the challenges associated with urban planning. Drawing on data from ISPRA and ARPAV, the analysis highlights how logistics—driven by the growth of e-commerce and supported by funding from the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)—has become a key driver of agricultural land sealing, with a signi cant concentration in the central provinces of the region. Case studies such as Nogarole Rocca and the Amazon hub in CastelguglielmoSan Bellino are examined to illustrate the interplay between infrastructural accessibility and locational attractiveness. The study underscores the contradictions between sustainability strategies and the expansive dynamics of logistics and ground-mounted photovoltaic plants, pointing to the lack of an eff ective regulatory and planning framework. Finally, the author argues for the development of indicators and tools capable of assessing territorial, social, and economic externalities, with the aim of guiding urban planning policies towards measurable sustainability consistent with European principles.
