Costruire la distanza per capire il presente: Manfredo Tafuri e il corso sulla storia dell’ideologia antiurbana (1972-73) a Venezia

The theme of distance represents a central problem in the scientific biography of the architectural historian Manfredo Tafuri (1935-1994). This paper aims to investigate Tafuri's working method starting from the sources used and the teaching material prepared for the academic course about
the History of Antiurban Ideology, held by him at the IUAV in the 1972-73, in which Venice appears for the first time in a historical perspective: as the link in a chain that, through contradictory paths, can also help to understand the current condition.
