“Via mare”. Riflessioni sul Patrimonio culturale nella Pianificazione dello Spazio Marittimo (CH in MSP)

University of Iuav fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling architecture, planning, archaeology, law, and design units to work together. This is exemplified through academic events like the “Via mare: rotte, paesaggi, immaginari” study day, organized by the MSP-GREEN project, which brought together planners, architects, archaeologists, designers, artists, historians, and marine museum curators. The high student participation highlights the importance of connecting the past to understand the present and plan for the future. This approach extends beyond academia. In collaboration with CNR-Ismar and Corila, Lo Iuav supported the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in drafting Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) documents for the Tyrrhenian, Adriatic, and Ionian Seas. According to Ramieri et al. (2024), the multiscalar approach of these plans fostered co-planning with regional authorities and the Ministry of Culture, emphasizing the integration of cultural and archaeological heritage. The plans aim to promote the conservation and enhancement of this heritage in line with UNESCO and Valletta conventions.
