Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to present the typographic principles on which a Cartesian parametric pantograph has been developed, illustrating its validity as an enactive me- diator in the educational setting. The pantograph analogi- cally controls typographic variables from a layout, which by adjusting the parameters that define the shape of strokes, generates consistent signs, focusing the design on the el- ements that constitute the character shape variables. The use of mechanical devices makes visible and tangible all the logical steps in the operation of the process executable through the machine making the experience physical and sensory, integrating direct manual practice into educational pathways.
