Safeguarding and valorizing diversity are fundamental in the age of mass tourism. The pandemic has caused considerable economic damage and increased the distance between communities and cultural heritage, highlighting the limits of monoculture tourism. We propose to overcome the conditions which exploit places by adopting a multiple transcalar approach to the management of heritage which translates into sustainable and integrated solutions.
