abstract:
A visionary work in which architecture, engineering, astronomy, archeo-astronomy, physics, geology and anthropology are fused to create a place of light, space and time. The artistic project illustrated in this essay consists in the creation, within the crater of an extinct volcano in the Painted Desert (AZ, USA), of a suite of underground rooms, connected by tunnels and so laid out as to let in the desert light by day and night, offering it to visitors in modes experimented by James Turrell in his installations.
