Legami d'acqua. Venezia e il suo territorio come palinsesto idrografico

ITA Venezia non è solo la città costruita sull’acqua, l’isola incredibile da cui sorgono ricchi palazzi e splendide chiese. Venezia è anche un grande sistema territoriale, altrettanto incredibile per la complessa interazione di componenti diverse. Tra queste l’acqua ha avuto un ruolo fondativo almeno pari alla terra “ferma” nel costruire un palinsesto stratificato e interconnesso, dove la tradizionale contrapposizione tra terra emersa e acqua si è fatta via via meno nitida: entrambe le condizioni, che convivono giustapposte nello spazio urbano, sono soltanto i termini estremi, antitetici quanto semplificatori, di una ben più ampia gamma di declinazioni che si manifestano ancora oggi nelle articolazioni e nelle stratificazioni del territorio regionale. Esplorare questa ricchezza costituisce un passaggio necessario a definire una serie di presupposti teorici utili ad avviare esplorazioni progettuali in grado di intersecare ragioni legate alla manutenzione e gestione di un territorio particolarmente complesso con esigenze altrettanto fondate di trasformazione. Venice is also a great territorial system, equally incredible for the vast and complex interaction of it’s different components. Among these, water had a founding role, at least equal to the “firm” land, in building a layered and interconnected palimpsest, where the traditional contrast between emerged land and water became less clear: both conditions, which coexist juxtaposed in the urban space, are only the extreme terms, antithetical as much as simplified, of a much wider range of variations that are still evident today in the articulations and stratifications of the regional territory. Exploring this richness constitutes a necessary step in defining a set of theoretical assumptions useful for initiating design explorations capable of intersecting reasons related to the maintenance and management of a particularly complex territory with equally well-founded needs for transformation.
