abstract:
Venice lagoon has only recently aroused archaeological interest, and owing
to the deep environmental changes it has undergone over the centuries, an
interdisciplinary approach is necessary to reconstruct the ways the ancient
population exploited the lagoon basin. This contribution proposes a new
reading of 19th century documents on some Roman age artefacts preserved in
the Torcello provincial museum. The origin of these artefacts has been
questioned, both on a chronological - typological level, and on a
topographical one, on the basis of an archaeological overview of the
Torcello archipelago
