abstract:
Modernism spread a dynamic vision of living spaces and clothes, in both cases promoting the idea of integrated functions. Fundamental to modern sensibility, the idea of the transformable was associated with facilitated use of work, sport and leisure clothing for a modern day, but it did not exclude the sophisticated worldliness of evening gowns. An echo of the futurist insight into the “transformable garment” theorised by Giacomo Balla and in the “snap surprise and transformation” as Volt wrote in the "Manifesto della moda femminile futurista".
