The forecasting of colour trends in Italy dated back to the first “colour card” created in 1925 by the Milan Unione per la moda italiana delle calzature. The essay analyses the development of the Italian fashion industry in the 1930s and the effort to coordinate the production by promoting the adoption of standardised criteria.
