No archive will restore us. From the haunted archive to the embodied archive in contemporary performance practices

In this paper, I examine how hauntological practices and haunting methodologies serve as generative and performative tools for rethinking the relationships between archives, memory, collective heritage and performance. Grounded in interdisciplinary perspectives especially from Performance Studies, Sound Studies, Vocal Studies and Philosophy. I approach the topic from the standpoint of a Southern European performance artist and artistic researcher. My work as a precarious worker within the arts and cultural sector informs the theoretical inquiry, drawing attention to the marginalization and the silencing of certain voices, of the stories of places where archives often fail to survive because there are no victorsʼ narratives to tell them but
ghosts certainly do.
