abstract:
Simplified approaches for large-scale seismic vulnerability assessments are gaining increasing interest and require
knowledge of the main structural characteristics of an area’s building stock.
The CARTIS survey forms, developed since 2014 as part of the ReLUIS project, are useful resources for defining an inventory of
Italian structural and building types. They are based on the collection of data on ordinary buildings realized in homogeneous areas
(sectors) by age of construction and structural type.
A new methodology that uses the information contained in the CARTIS database for a rapid assessment of the vulnerability of RC
buildings is briefly presented here. Specifically, the methodology is characterized by an ad hoc developed tree-based procedure. In
this paper, some preliminary applications of the methodology to a case study at different territorial scales (e.g. sector, municipality,
province) and some comparisons are presented
