The intellectual journey of Lefebvre - from his childhood in rural south-east
of France, deeply imbued with catholic education, to become one of the main Parisian intellectuals, or, as they called himself "the last French Marxist” is characterized by a number of sensational twists and turns. This essay traces the many issues on which Lefebvre focused, with an emphasis on those related to spatial aspects, to which the French sociologist has devoted the latter part of his long and adventurous intellectual life.
