The manufacturing industry in Northeastern Italy is composite and multiform, and has generally grown out of the bonds between manufacturing and the rural economy. This has caused a memory of industrialization to spread throughout the region, often related to the definition, especially after the 1960’s, of what would later become the industrial clusters. The historic legacies of some manufacturing companies or designers have in part been acquired by archives and public or private museums, but the rest is yet to be “salvaged”, in particular at a time in when companies are evolving in terms of corporate structure and the next generations are taking over.
