This research is connected on one hand to the significant issues of the memory of the architectural composition related to themes and figures that have determined the urban and territorial morphology, on the other hand, to the theme of the imaginative process of the architectural project in relation with the stratification and layering of signs, geometries and paths, textures and repeated patterns. The research, which is a the- oretical-critical research, takes these issues and hypotheses and ‘tries out’ an architectural dimension, which is conducted through an experimental procedure, which assumes its own procedural rules of the architectural project. It is obvious that an architec- tural composition may keep visible the signs and characters arising from the origin of the distinct compositional procedures. In this sense it is useful to present the figure of a ‘project in differ- ent variants’, as a sort of 30 +2 Bach’s Goldberg Variations.
