AHEAD - Addressing Housing Equal Affordable and Dignified

Progetto
Housing inequalities encompass a broad range of issues related to living urban and rural areas. Access to a safe and adequate home is key to obtaining services, mobility, education, employment, healthcare, and cultural activities. Therefore, addressing housing inequalities means grappling with a multitude of factors that are deeply embedded in the functioning of contemporary societies. Given the multidimensional nature of housing inequalities, AHEAD's objectives are to: 1) identify the different socio-political and economic drivers/patterns of housing inequalities, 2) analyse their consequences for individuals across EU countries, 3) examine the outcomes of housing inequalities in cities and territories, in order to provide a roadmap for solutions that promote housing justice to local, regional, national, and European stakeholders and policy makers. AHEAD presents an opportunity to cross-fertilize research domains by adopting a multi-stakeholder and multi-scalar approach. It employs three methods of knowledge acquisition: 1) rigorous academic analysis of the most recent research explaining housing inequalities, leveraging the disciplinary competencies, skills, and knowledge of AHEAD's partners; 2) consultations with bodies (umbrella organizations and NGOs, as well as EU DGs and EU UA partnership), to gather information and perspectives at the EU level; 3) analyse contextualised case studies in various EU countries. This three-way approach will help to develop a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of housing inequalities across Europe. Moreover, AHEAD will use a variety of communication channels to share its findings and engage with stakeholders and the wider public: ad hoc sharing events, online and offline conferences, and co-drafting dissemination outputs using different media to ensure that AHEAD's research and insights are accessible and relevant to a wide range of audiences, including policy makers, practitioners, academics, and the general public
