Abstract:

Located in fashion studies between new materialism and posthumanism, the article explores the ecological practices of intimacy and care for the body and the environment, which align practices of sustainability and protection of femininity in the relationship with alterity. Recalling the discourses on the grotesque body as an unfinished and collective organism, the transformative potential of posthuman fashion unfolds in the reconfiguration, through the use of organic materials and waste, of the body-dress continuum, which materializes through experimental material-driven fashion design case studies.
