Abstract:
Inside the Venetian city there are more than one hundred and ten churches, conventuals, monastic and parishes, thirty of which are closed. The use and its intensity defines the future of the buildings from time to time and it is often the significant reason for the architectural degradation and for the change of design and project of the city. On this occasion, three Venetian cases of closed churches are analysed, who narrate three different stories and allow the definition of three urban scenarios of the city of Venice. The Church of Santa Maria della Misericordia in Cannaregio, integrated within a private system, the Church of Santa Maria della Presentazione in Giudecca, opened occasionally for exhibitions and events and finally the Church of San Lorenzo in Castello, currently under restoration. The analysis of these three cases allows the definition of new scenarios of design and project for Venice and for the future of its architectures.
