Abstract:
The concept of sustainability includes not only the aspects directly linked to environmental protection but also some issues such as product quality, social and economic equity.In the food sector, for example, we are develop-ing processes and marketing strategies aimed to elevate the quality of the Italian products and to promote environmental friendly processes. Pasta is one of the food sectors that are most interested in these aspects. Sgambaro S.p.A. has used sustainability as its brand for over fi fty years. The whole production process is linked to the theme of km 0, to reduce transports and emissions; the company uses only energ y from renewable sources and invests in “carbon capture and storage projects” with initiatives aimed to safeguard the environmental heritage of Veneto. Finally, company has set up an EPD for pasta product, to certify its envi-ronmental light footprint.
