Abstract:
The oriental carpet is home and temple, and the conical “hats” of Jeddah reflect the nomadic tradition of the tents of pilgrims travelling to Mecca, constructing the fabric of the element that preserves, according to the theories of Gottfried Semper and Alois Riegl, the most ancient meaning of construction and protection.
