The home-studio of architects Eva Prats and Ricardo Flores in Barcelona stands as a manifesto of their design poetics. Far from any formal idealism, the house embodies a way of inhabiting time, welcoming the layered presence of memory – from the intimate scale of domestic life to the broader relationship with the city. This article retraces the couple’s story and their working method, which revolves around drawing by hand as a form of thought that is at once intuitive and questioning. The studio’s focus on the built environment as a temporal and stratified condition is explored through a selection of adaptive reuse projects carried out in Barcelona over the past two decades – from Yutes Textiles to Sala Beckett. These projects reveal how architectural design can act as a tool for unveiling and enhancing what already exists, bringing forgotten or overlooked elements back to the center of attention.
