Abstract:
This contribution explores the creative interaction between Flora Ruchat-Roncati (1937-2012), architect and professor at ETH and Leonardo Zanier (1935-2017), political activist and poet. The focus is on the Stökli that was built in Flora’s house in Riva San Vitale as the poet’s house for Leo, that takes the name from the traditional Swiss dwelling where elder people move after they pass the entalied farm to their heirs. Flora’s Stökli is talored around the memories and suggestions by Leo, and thus is a materialised reflection over their shared sensibility. Existing stones, memories of a larger history, and modern insertions, are a testimony on how a project can be the product of a thinking couple, were often roles are exchanged.
