Abstract:
Demand Responsive Transport Systems (DRTS) have been extensively trialed in rural Germany as part of the MOBINET (Mobility in the conurbation of Munich) and MOB2 (Integration of private transport in public transport in rural areas).
This paper describes the main features of DRTS management and two successful applications. It concludes that with the addition of meaningful supplements, such DRTS, car sharing and organised car pooling, an effective integration of traditional transport into a virtual ’mobility centre’ is possible.
